Can you guarantee the exact delivery date?

we can give you the approximate delivery date at the time of booking the shipment. Exact delivery date will be provided after the customs inspection is completed.

Is it necessary to insure the cargo?

According to the Incoterm agreed insurance requirement varies, but can be useful and we highly recommend it. Ocean cargo insurance covers any cargo damage in any instance. Cost of the insurance can vary between 0.75%-1.5% from the declared cargo value.

How is the shipping price formed?

Sea shipping prices can vary from month to month and they depend on a number of factors.

  • BOF(“basic ocean freight”) shipping expenses;
  • OTHC(“origin terminal handling charges”) port related expenses;
  • DTHC (“destination terminal handling charges”) – unloading port expenses;
  • CAF (“currency adjustment factor”) – currency exchange difference based on BOF;
  • BAF (“bunker adjustment factor”) – fuel expenses charge calculated in USD for TEU (20 foot container);
  • ISPS or SEC (“security charges”) – port security related expenses;
  • DOC FEE – documentation fee

There are some seasonal charges – PSS (“peak season surcharge”).

  • PCS (“port congestion surcharge”).
  • WNS (“winter surcharge”) – related to freezing winter conditions in instance St Petersburg – from Dec 1 to March 31.

Also every shipping line applies (“demurrage”) maximum container hold after the equipment has been discharged at the port. Usually it varies between 2 and 21 days. In this period the cargo recipient has to unload the cargo and return the container back to the port. If the period is exceeded there will be a penalty.

What is Bill of Lading?

The document which covers transport by sea. Signed by the carrier, whether a shipping line or a freight forwarder, it serves as a receipt to the consignor for the goods, as evidence of the contract of transport containing the conditions of transport, and as a document of title by which possession of the goods can be transferred. Typically a B/L is issued in a set of three signed originals or negotiables, one of which must be presented to claim the goods upon which the others become void.

  • Combined Transport / Multimodal B/L

    A B/L covering transport by shipping container from an inland place prior to the loading port, to an inland place beyond the destination port. Most freight forwarders and shipping companies title their B/Ls as “Bill of Lading for Combined Transport or Port-to-Port shipment” or similar.

  • Congen B/L

    A standard form of bill of lading used in shipments by chartered ship.
